Who is Kelly?

Well, by day I am a Stress Engineer working in the aerospace industry. Then, two evenings a week I am an aerobics instructor.

I live in West Moors, Dorset with my partner, Tony, our rottweiler, Dillon, and a tank of tropical fish!

In my spare time I like to read, my favourite author is Terry Pratchet. In the summer months, I enjoy pottering in my garden, although I am no gardener. I also spend a lot of time working on my websites.

In April 2007, I took up running as I wanted to increase the amount of cardio exercise I was doing. On 26th April 2009 I will be running the London Marathon in aid of the MS Society. You can sponsor me here and follow my training in my running diary.

Why aerobics?

I first attended an aerobic dance class in 1991 just to keep a friend company. I didn't think it would be "my thing" but after a couple of weeks I was hooked. By the end of the 1990's I was attending up to 4 classes a week.

In 1999, I was made redundant and my job quest brought me to Dorset. Unable to find an aerobics class at a suitable time that I enjoyed, I decided to become an instructor. At that time, the only organisation I knew that I could train with was Moves Fitness, whose classes I had been attending whilst living in Surrey. In 2001, I qualified as one of their instructors.

In 2006, with the support of my students, I decided to "go it alone". I searched the internet and signed up for my NVQ Level 2 in Exercise to Music. Upon completing this, I launched "Keep Fit with Kelly".

Why "Keep Fit with Kelly"?

To thank my students for their support I asked them to nominate names for the new venture. Then, as I am a believer in democracy the nominations were put to the ballot. At first I was a little disappointed in the outcome as I didn't think it was very original. I came round to it when someone pointed out to me that it "does what it says on the tin!"
